Due to the COVID-19 crisis, the IFPO is no longer distributing food on Wednesday mornings at the Church of the Epiphany & Christ Church. The IFPO is now serving registered clients by appointment only from 357 S. Jefferson Ave., Orange. We are not open the first Wednesday of the month.

 

Registered IFPO clients with a pantry card who wish to make an appointment to pick up food: please email IFPOranges@gmail.com or call/text 973-856-4000.  Please include your name, address, cell phone number, and IFPO card number.

The services and programs listed below are not run by the IFPO. These services are offered by other state, local and non-profit community groups. The IFPO is continually updating this page as we learn of emergency response programs.

The IFPO also is working with the townships of Orange and East Orange to get significant quantities of food into the community. Please see information below and check back regularly for updates.

Covid Vaccinations

Federal law makes the vaccine totally free. You will not be billed. There are no co-payments. 

Anyone who lives, works, or studies in New Jersey is eligible to be vaccinated – regardless of immigration status

Saint Barnabas will administer Pfizer vaccines at pantry this Wednesday, June 23 from 9 am - 12:30 pm. Pre-registration requested to ensure enough vaccines are available. IMPORTANT VACCINE ELIGIBILITY UPDATE: Everyone 12 or older who lives, works, or studies in New Jersey is now eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine, regardless of immigration or insurance status..

Free or discounted rides available to vaccine sites wherever Uber or Lyft services available. Available to everyone, including those with collapsible wheelchairs or walkers.   • Tuesdays, 9:00 - 12:00, Holy Trinity Food Pantry, 315 Main Street, West Orange. Open to residents of Oranges and/or referrals from an approved agency. Bring ID​.​​​​​ IFPO clients show IFPO ID card.

  • Our Lady of the Valley Church, 510 Valley St., Orange. Takeaway Meal, 9 - 11:30 am. Monday - Saturday.

  • Saturdays 12:00 - 1:00, Christine's Kitchen, Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 315 Main Street, West Orange. Free bagged lunch to go. All are welcome.

  • Saturdays 11:00 - 1:30, Free bagged lunch and groceries, Emergency food pantry of Church of the Epiphany and Christ Church, 105 Main Street, Orange. Rain or shine in the Church parking lot.

  • Saturday June 26, 8 am to 11 am. Our Lady of Sorrows Food Pantry. 4th St (btw Prospect & Academy), South Orange. Vehicles can pull up to the area marked with cones and pop the trunk to receive a full bag.​​

City of Orange Residents
  • Our Lady of the Valley Church, 510 Valley St., Orange. Takeaway Meal, 9 - 11:30 am. Monday - Saturday. 

  • The City of Orange food distribution:   234 Lincoln Avenue (between Jackson Street and Central Avenue).  Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10 - 2 .​

  • City of Orange seniors and families with children can call the City at 973-280-1621.

East Orange Residents
  • NEW LOCATION for Food Distribution: FELLOWSHIP CIVIC CENTER, 1 Fellowship Circle (Greenwood Ave.)  Next Distribution: Wednesday June  23 at 9 am (Distributions will continue at Fellowship Civic Center every Wednesday and Friday). Details here.
  • East Orange Office of Emergency Management, 402 Springdale Ave. Next date TBA. East Orange residents only. Drive through or walk-up.​​  Covid testing also available.

  • This Thursday June 24 - Joi's Angel food pantry, 114 S. Arlington Ave., 9 am - 12 pm. Third and Fourth Thursday of each month. Third Thursday is also diaper pantry for children up to age 3 (bring birth certificate)]. 

  • East Orange Residents of all ages: Grab & Go Meals, Monday-Friday 11 AM to 3 PM. Fellowship Civic Center, 1 Fellowship Circle.​

Irvington Residents
  • Church Women United, 1240 Clinton Ave., Irvington. Every Wednesday 11-3. Irvington residents only.

      Must wear a mask and gloves and bring an ID.

Rental and Housing Assistance

  • New Jersey Covid-19 Emergency Rental Assistance Program: Applicants can seek 12 months of rental assistance, paying for rent arrears incurred since March 13, 2020, and potentially for future rent payments. Eligible residents must be 18 or older, qualify for unemployment or seen a loss in income relating to the coronavirus pandemic, show a risk of housing instability, and have a household income below 80% of the median area income.   • Free Covid Testing every Monday. 11 am - 6 pm, St. Matthew AME Church, 338 Oakwood Ave., Orange. No appointment needed. Details here.

HELP GETTING VACCINES: 

  • Help scheduling vaccines is available to IFPO clients on pantry days. Ask at Registration. 

  • A vaccine call center to help New Jersey residents, especially seniors, get a COVID-19 vaccination appointment is now live. The center is staffed with 250 agents from 8 am - 8 pm. Call 855-568-0545.

NEW:  COVID-19 Funeral Assistance Benefits:

Financial assistance for actual funeral costs up to $9,000 may now be available for Covid-related deaths (as indicated on death certificate) in the US. The applicant must be a U.S. citizen, non-citizen national, or qualified alien. There is no requirement for the decedent to have been a U.S. citizen, non-citizen national, or qualified alien.
