Due to the COVID-19 crisis, the IFPO is not distributing food on Wednesday mornings at the Church of the Epiphany & Christ Church. The IFPO is now serving registered clients by appointment only out of a different Orange location. Registered IFPO clients with a pantry card who wish to make an appointment to pick up food: please email IFPOranges@gmail.com or call/text 973-856-4000.  Please include your name, address, cell phone number, and IFPO card number.

The IFPO also is working with the townships of Orange and East Orange to get significant quantities of food into the community. Please see information below and check back regularly for updates.

Coronavirus Vaccinations -

East Orange residents (and those who work in EO):

 

----TODAY - Thursday May 6 - The Mobile Health Clinic will be at 315 South Harrison Street, East Orange, between 10am and 2pm on May 6 administering the Moderna Vaccine to all those who are eligible. Walk ups are welcome, but pre-registration is preferred. For more information, call 973.266.5480.

----New Vision Baptist Church, 100 Warrington Pl on Saturday between 10am and 2pm.

Walk in vaccinations now available at Kmart, West Orange and Essex County College, Newark. Both sites are open from 10am to 2pm Mondays to Saturdays

IMPORTANT VACCINE ELIGIBILITY UPDATE: Anyone 16 years of age and older is now eligible in NJ to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

 

FEMA Community Vaccination Center at NJIT's Naimoli Family Athletic and Recreational Facility, corner of Lock St. & Bleeker St. in Newark, has 6,000 appointments available each day. Appointments only (no walk in). 8 am - 8 pm for eligible individuals.

NEW:  COVID-19 Funeral Assistance Benefits:

Financial assistance for actual funeral costs up to $9,000 may now be available for Covid-related deaths (as indicated on death certificate) in the US. The applicant must be a U.S. citizen, non-citizen national, or qualified alien. There is no requirement for the decedent to have been a U.S. citizen, non-citizen national, or qualified alien. Rental and Housing Assistance

  • New Jersey Covid-19 Emergency Rental Assistance Program: Applicants can seek 12 months of rental assistance, paying for rent arrears incurred since March 13, 2020, and potentially for future rent payments. Eligible residents must be 18 or older, qualify for unemployment or seen a loss in income relating to the coronavirus pandemic, show a risk of housing instability, and have a household income below 80% of the median area income.   • Free, confidential Covid testing by the NJ Department of Health will be available to IFPO clients, volunteers and the general public at IFPO, 357 S. Jefferson Street, Orange,  Wednesday May 19 - from 8 am - 1 pm. No appointment is necessary, no insurance is required for this saliva PCR test. Antibody testing is not available.   • Free Covid Testing every Monday. 11 am - 6 pm, St. Matthew AME Church, 338 Oakwood Ave., Orange. No appointment needed. Details here.

HELP GETTING VACCINES: 

  • Help scheduling vaccines is available to IFPO clients on pantry days. Ask at Registration. 

  • A vaccine call center to help New Jersey residents, especially seniors, get a COVID-19 vaccination appointment is now live. The center is staffed with 250 agents from 8 am - 8 pm. Call 855-568-0545. 

       Need Assistance Scheduling Your Covid Vaccine?

  • The National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW) is offering assistance in scheduling the Covid vaccine. If you are an Essex County resident over age 65 and would like assistance scheduling to receive your Covid vaccine, please contact Laurie Schuftan from NCJW laurieschuftan@gmail.com or at 973-271-1600 to be paired with a volunteer to help you register for an appointment.
