The IFPO serves clients at 357 S. Jefferson Avenue, Orange, on Wednesday mornings. We are not open the first Wednesday of the month. 


Beginning in January, 2022, if you are not a registered IFPO client but wish to come to pantry, and you reside in East Orange, Orange or West Orange, please email IFPOranges@gmail.com or call/text 973-856-4000 before coming to pantry. Spanish speakers call 908-280-9160 or 908-643-7425. Haitian Creole speakers 609-718-6062.


If you live outside the Oranges, you can find another convenient pantry through the lists below. We suggest you call to confirm current hours and information before going to a pantry.

·       MEND also offers a list of  food pantries in Essex County.​ 

·       ESSEX COUNTY provides a list of food pantries. Call to confirm current operations before visiting as Covid has changed many operations.


The services and programs listed below are not run by the IFPO. These services are offered by other state, local and non-profit community groups. The IFPO is continually updating this page as we learn of emergency response programs.

Emergency Food Pantries & Food Distributions​​:​​

  • City of Orange Food Distribution, 234 Lincoln Avenue (between Jackson Street and Central Avenue). 

       Drive up only food distributions Mondays and Walk up Wednesdays 10:30 am - 2:30 pm for Orange residents only). 

  • Monday- Saturday, 9:00 am – 11:30 am, Our Lady of the Valley Church, 510 Valley Street, Orange. Take away meal.

  • Monday – Friday, 11:00 am – 3:00 pm, Fellowship Civic Center, 1 Fellowship Circle. East Orange. Grab & Go Meals. ** Must be a resident of East Orange

  • Tuesdays, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm, Holy Trinity Food Pantry, 315 Main Street, West Orange. Open to residents of Oranges and/or referrals from an approved agency. Bring ID​.​​​​​ IFPO clients show IFPO ID card.​​

  • East Orange -  Food Distributions Fridays, 9:00 AM. Fellowship Civic Center, 1 Fellowship Circle (Greenwood Ave.).  Fresh produce available. Walk up only. ** Must be an East Orange Resident. 

  • Joi's Angel food pantry, 114 S. Arlington Ave., 9 am - 12 pm. Third and Fourth Thursday of each month. Third Thursday  is also diaper pantry for children up to age 3 (bring birth certificate). **East Orange residents only. 

  • Saturdays 11:00 am - 1:30 pm, Free bagged lunch and groceries, Emergency food pantry of Church of the Epiphany and Christ Church, 105 Main Street, Orange. Rain or shine in the Church parking lot. ​

  • Saturdays 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm, Christine's Kitchen, Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 315 Main Street, West Orange. Free bagged lunch to go. All are welcome. 

  • Saturday Feb 5, 8:00 am – 11:00 am Our Lady of Sorrows Food Pantry, 4th St (btw Prospect & Academy), South Orange. Vehicles can pull up to the area marked with cones and pop the trunk to receive food.​​​


​City of Orange seniors, families with children, or residents in need of delivery can call the City at 973-280-1621. ​​

Covid Vaccinations

Federal law makes the vaccine totally free. You will not be billed. There are no co-payments. 

Anyone over the age of 12 who lives, works, or studies in New Jersey is eligible to be vaccinated – regardless of immigration or insurance status.

Booster shots are now available for many previously vaccinated people. Details here. You may need an appointment to get a booster shot, which is available at Essex County's vaccination sites and many pharmacies.

Upcoming Vaccination Events:​​

CDC update 1/4/2022: Booster shots are now available 5 months after vaccination for those who initially received the Pfizer vaccine (6 months after vaccination for those who received the Moderna vaccine).

CDC update 1/5/2022: Booster shots are now available for 12 - 15 year olds.

  • ​Essex County sites: No Cost. No Appointment needed for vaccines or booster shots. 

      KMart Building (236 Prospect Ave., West Orange); Essex County Parking Garage, (84 West Market St., Newark) or Sears Building (112 Eisenhower Parkway, Livingston). Hours are Tuesday to Friday from 9am to 7pm and Saturday from 8am to 2pm. Testing is free. Click here for more information, including vaccines for children ages 5 - 11.


Covid Testing:

TODAY Friday Jan. 28, 10 am - 1 pm, Field House at 234 Lincoln Ave., Orange. Free for Orange residents. By East Orange General Hospital. Details here. 


Free COVID-19 Testing is available at Essex County centers at the Sears in Livingston, Kmart in West Orange and Essex County Employee Parking Deck in Newark. Hours are Tuesday to Friday from 9am to 7pm and Saturday from 8am to 2pm. Testing is free. Click here for more information. Appointments not required.​​

Free PCR Nasal test for those 6 and up: Monday and Thursday afternoons 3 - 6 pm, Saint Matthew Church, 336 Oakland Ave., Orange. Details here.

SNAP Assistance and Other Benefit Assistance:

Call the Community FoodBank of NJ Resource Access Team. 1-908-838-4831 Monday through Friday from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. 

        The Resource Access Team is at the IFPO pantry on our first Wednesday pantry day each month. 

Essex County residents who want to apply for SNAP food assistance, cash assistance, or NJ FamilyCare/Medicaid,  visit NJHelps.org.

Rental and Housing Assistance:

  • Essex County has a Covid-19 Emergency Rental Assistance Program which may help if you are facing eviction due to failure to pay rent or utility bills. Details here.

  • Housing Assistance may be available to renters, landlords and homeowners. Call 888-691-3002 or visit www.HousingHelpNJ.org. Details here.

If you are facing eviction from your home, New Jersey Citizen Action Education Fund can help. Protect yourself from eviction by self-certifying and applying for rental assistance.

Excluded New Jerseyans Fund: provides a one-time, direct cash benefit to eligible households who have suffered an economic hardship due to COVID-19 and were excluded from both the federal stimulus checks and COVID related unemployment assistance - including undocumented individuals, residents re-entering from the justice system, and any other individuals otherwise excluded. COVID-19 Funeral Assistance Benefits:

Financial assistance for actual funeral costs up to $9,000 may now be available for Covid-related deaths (as indicated on death certificate) in the US. The applicant must be a U.S. citizen, non-citizen national, or qualified alien. There is no requirement for the decedent to have been a U.S. citizen, non-citizen national, or qualified alien.
