Covid-19 Volunteer Information
The IFPO is operating out of temporary space with limited volunteer opportunities. We are unable to accept groups at this time. All volunteers must sign up in advance via Signup Genius until further notice and must agree to the IFPO Volunteer Covid Waiver. For information about volunteer opportunities for adults and high school students and to receive the Signup link, email IFPOranges@gmail.com
During this time we have suspended client choice and are pre-packaging bags for clients to minimize touches. Indoor jobs generally involve packaging groceries, produce, toiletries or diaper supplies, as well as unloading the truck and organizing inventory. During distribution, we also have an outdoor crew that serves the walk-up and drive-through client stations.
Volunteers are required to wear face coverings at all times and refrain from visiting the pantry if the volunteer, or anyone in their household, is experiencing any symptoms. We are limiting the number of indoor volunteer slots to practice social distancing. Client distributions are held outdoors and both volunteers and clients must wear face coverings.
The Teen Board consists of students in grades 9-12, from various high schools, towns and religious organizations who are interested in combating hunger. Teen Board members develop leadership skills by organizing and staffing fundraisers and food drives. These events are held on weekends or after school hours. Teen Board activities are currently limited due to Covid-19.
